Why I Design?

My story

I started in graphic design, working on physical products like handbags and accessories. That's where I first saw how an idea becomes something real. Sketches turned into samples. Samples turned into things people carried every day. That early exposure to the full lifecycle of a product is what hooked me. I realized I wasn't just interested in how things looked, I loved the process of building them.

That curiosity led me into tech startups and eventually larger organizations like Northwestern Mutual. The medium shifted from physical to digital, but the core stayed the same: take something ambiguous, shape it with intention, and turn it into something that actually works for the people using it.

I've been designing long enough to see the tools transform and the industry shift. I've grown alongside it. The platforms are smarter and the workflows faster, but the foundation hasn't changed: understand the problem, and design the right solution for the people who rely on it. For me, design isn't about making things look good. It's about creating systems that actually work for the people using them.

If that kind of thinking resonates with your team, I'd love to be part of what you're building.
